New Paragraph
We are an organisation dedicated to giving young directors and actors the time and space in which to develop themselves and their art on a regular basis. We know that it can be increasingly difficult to find the opportunity to play and develop one's craft after leaving education, so we have set up a series of different opportunities to help emerging theatremakers keep growing:
Our Playground Terms allow young and emerging directors free-reign to work on whatever they want to be producing or experimenting with over 7- weeks. In turn, actors get to work with these emerging directors, gain experience rehearsing and collaborating with other performers and building a tight-knit community of theatremakers in london.
Our Weekend Workshops allow directors and actors to work more closely with a professional director over two days. These workshops will focus on developing skills and techniques by focusing on scene study and end with a filmed showing, self-tapes and feedback from the visiting director.
Our Toolbox Workshop is a series of 5 workshops from a variety of different practitioners. We believe the best way for theatremakers and performers to learn and improve their practise is to develop a broad "toolbox" of techniques and perspectives on theatremaking. Our first toolbox workshop will have five expert practitioners teaching about: Clowning, Stage Combat, Puppetry, Six-Viewpoints Method, and Movement.
Testimonials
"The Directors Playground was incredibly useful, fun and a brilliant opportunity for me to use a space and the same performers towards exploring an idea I had with the freedom to explore and play fully within the creative journey of that idea. It gave me so much freedom, valuable time with performers in a space. All of which is so incredibly hard to arrange/find and produce sometimes in London."
- Sean Croft, Director
"The Directors' Playground is a crucial space for theatremakers and performers to come together and explore their creativity in a fun, welcoming space with great people."
- Maya Bryant, Director
"Working with the Directors Playground has been a pleasure. It's a space to work with multiple different styles of directors and actors over a long period including a workshop with a professional theatre director. These sessions were so useful for networking and expanding skills with other likeminded people with a range of abilities was wonderful."
- Edward Godfrey, Actor
